My first foray as a classroom teacher into STEM.
Today we began playful exploration.
The students have time just to explore the resources we have available in the Makerspace..
First up is the Make Do.
In groups of three to four the students had time to explore using the tools and construction. Their aim was to make a race car. The level of noise was a sign of their excitement and enthusiasm as I moved around the room. Much of their time was spent experimenting and talking, negotiating and collaborating…..not always feeling happy with each other and having differing opinions on how to complete their construction was a common thread in observations. Many, many of the class were out of their comfort zone, emotions were running high yet at the end of the day after a massive cleanup the main question they had was……….can we do this again tomorrow! I’ll take that as a win.
